Care & Maintenance

We go to great lengths to ensure that our furniture is of the highest quality.  Natural wood characteristics such as small cracks appearing in the grain due to changes in temperature or humidity can occur over time.  These may appear and disappear with the changing weather conditions and are purely cosmetic.  This will not affect the durability, serviceability or structural integrity of your furniture and is completely normal.

Colour change, ie greying, will occur over time on unsealed timber.  Any food or drink spills should be cleaned up immediately with a damp cloth.  In order to avoid significant marking or staining of your furniture through use and also to maintain its original colour, we recommend applying a sealer to the wood.

Folding chairs and other fixings should be checked regularly and may need tightening from time to time.

Parasols should not be left unattended when open, our parasol canopies are vented, but strong gusts of wind may cause damage to the main pole or spars.  Fading of the colour of parasols over time is to be expected, this can be reduced by keeping the time the parasol is open to a minimum.

Annual Care and Maintenance tips for Teak Garden Furniture
No wooden garden furniture will be completely maintenance free, to prolong the life of your teak garden furniture and preserve its appearance, we recommend carrying out the following steps in the spring and the autumn to prepare your furniture for the summer and winter.

 Autumn Maintenance Tips

- Clean down or jet-wash your teak furniture on the lowest setting, taking care not to damage the surface of the wood.

- Fill any small cracks or openings with exterior wood glue to prevent water freezing in the gaps over the winter and causing the wood to split.

- Lightly sand surfaces as desired with a fine 120 grit sandpaper

- Check fixings on folding chairs and tables, they might need lubricating or tightening

- If you can’t store your garden furniture indoors over the colder months, then make sure to place it somewhere sheltered and fairly dry.

- If your furniture will be outside over the winter, we recommend applying a coat of wood treatment, we recommend our teak/hardwood garden woodsealer.

- If you’re using a waterproof cover, place some wood blocks underneath so that the cover doesn’t rest on the furniture, this will allow air to circulate and prevent condensation.

- You can also apply a garden algae and mould treatment to keep your furniture looking great over the winter months.
